Nice one! Just been getting into Timmons the last few months. Been listening to Soul Time with Blue Mitchell and Art Blakey a lot. This one looks like a killer with Carter and Shorter. Thanks!!
Nice one! Thanks
great version of tom thumb. thank you for sharing!
Thanks for this. Bobby Timmons looks in the pix like a hipster Monk light, but he was more, just sayin', the pure groove hybrid piano playing and writing dude that could do MOANIN' (with an interpolation of "why don't you do right, yet) with Erroll Garner chordals, and nice, rough Bud Powell lines and on and on. Just simple stuff, he made it sound.
Sum: A perfectly cool jazz pianist. Complete. Young and lean.
Sad fact, the man died young and we can't tell him how real he was.
But the recordings do.
So thanks for spreading the word.
AND, sorry, I'm a new guy here in this place, but THIS HERE IS
is a classic, if you don't have it here, it's a perfect piano man's LP on Riverside. Check it out.
And pretty memory is such a sweet tune.
Thanks,
Den NC USA
